The Pacific Symposium for Science and Sustainability (PS3) serves as a regional competition for students to advance to the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS). The JSHS is a national program funded by the United States Department of the Army, Navy, Air Force and is sponsored by the Academy of Applied Science. Five finalists will be selected to represent the Pacific Region in the National JSHS competition with an all-expense paid trip to Ohio in April. This past year, six of our Robotics team members presented their papers. The team was also successful in encouraging students outside of the team to participate. Our team had five state placers and looks forward to doing the same this year.
Through Pacific Symposium students receive feedback from highly qualified scientists, engineers, and community members; gaining valuable knowledge on public speaking, presenting and collecting data, and furthering their research. Furthermore, students learn about the exciting research done by fellow students throughout the Pacific.
