Feeder School Robotics Development
The Tiki Techs help the Kohala, Konawaena, Kealakehe Intermediate, Innovations Public Charter School, Holualoa Elementary and Kahakai Elementary Schools with their robotics programs, through supplies or donations. We organized a box full of tools for these teams to help them start-up their robotics programs. (See our Tiki Techs RoboBox page for more information)
The Tiki Techs ran two FIRST Lego League Competitions this year.

Community Involvement
On August 28th, 2011, the robotics team volunteered at the Lavaman Triathlon.
During the summer of 2012, we helped Kealakehe Elementary School teachers prepare their class rooms for the new school year.

The Eco Tiki Initiative (Environmental Efforts)
As a team, the Tiki Techs hope to preserve our islands natural beauty as well at keep the world energy efficient. With our Eco Tiki Initiative we hope we can inspire others in the community to become energy efficient as well. Our team participates in many energy efficiency programs including the blue planet foundation light bulb exchange program, in which we have exchanged more than 2000 incandescent light bulbs with cost efficient, energy-saving Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs through out the community. These light bulbs were of no cost to the recipients and helped in the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative. We participate in school wide recycling and make sure to not throw away reusable material that can be recycled. The Waverider Recycling program at our school, put into place by the environmental leadership club, help our team and our school stay green.
During the FIRST, VEX, ROV, and BotBall seasons there are required binders for submission for the competition. Every binder requires a large amount of paper and can use a range of 100 to 1000 sheets of paper and printer ink supplies. As to lessen this paper usage, instead of printing more that three binders per competition we print only one required binder and have USB Drives readily available for judges and other team members to take and review electronically.
